LMIA – Labour Market Impact Assessment for Hiring Foreign Workers

A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that Canadian employers may need to obtain before hiring a foreign worker. It is issued by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and confirms that there is a genuine need for a foreign worker to fill the job and that no Canadian citizen or permanent resident is available to do so.
