Canada’s Caregiver Program offers foreign nationals the opportunity to work as in-home caregivers for children, seniors, or individuals with medical needs—and, in many cases, to apply for permanent residence.
There are two main caregiver pathways currently available:
Home Child Care Provider Pilot
Home Support Worker Pilot
These pilots allow eligible caregivers to come to Canada with a job offer and work permit, and eventually apply for permanent residency once they meet the required work experience.
Caregiver Program services include:
Assessment of eligibility based on education, language skills, and job offer
Assistance with LMIA-exempt job offers from qualifying employers
Guidance on work permit and permanent residence applications under the caregiver pilots
Support with resume and job offer preparation
Help with documentation, including police checks, medical exams, and proof of experience
Monitoring of application progress and communication with IRCC as needed
This program provides a meaningful opportunity for caregivers to build a future in Canada while supporting families in need.
